Inconsiderate pricks

posted by Jack Burnt

My girlfriend and I go see The Simpsons tonight (well, technically last night) and I was amazed at the inconsiderate pricks in the theatre. The person in front of us had their phone open the whole movie, so there was a huge ass, glowing light in our perephial vision. A kid behind us kept making the most moronic comments throughout the movie ("Homer usually says 'doh'". "Alaska is part of the USA"), very loudly. And there was a child way in the back that would laugh and scream sporadically throughout the movie.

Why are people such inconsiderate pricks? Close your phone. Close your mouth. Take your misbehaving kid out. It ruined the entire experience for us.

I wanted to punch every person there. But, Ben Fold's sums up a white person's dilema perfectly: "I'm pissed off but I'm too damn polite, when people break in the McDonald's line

It’s been a while

posted by Jack Burnt

So, I get this journal going again and I immediately start to avoid it. Well done! As I say in all my posts and e-mails to my mom, not much is going on. I’m stuck at work till 5, and Amanda works late. So I don’t know if we’re doing anything tonight. It may be tomorrow before I see The Simpsons movie.

I work at Auburn help people with computer stuff for class. And there’s just some people that are a pain in the ass. They want so much but know so little. And you just can’t say “no, I’m sorry. You don’t know enough to do that” Because they’ll get upset. One’s in here right now working on Dreamweaver. O well. At least it’s Friday.

Tonight I’m playing games all night. I’m hooked on consoles again, and it’s very very nice. I think I’ll start off jamming with Guitar Hero II with Amanda. Then I’ll break out Shadow of Colossus and knock down a few giants. I’ve killed 4 more, so I think I’ll hit 8 tonight. Then 13 tomorrow then finish up the game Sunday and send it back. I’ll probably rent Resistance too so I can play that online. I also need to play All Pro and We <3 Katamari too.

Busy busy!

But first, I need booze and lots of it.

Well, I have 3 hours to go. I hope I don’t go insane.

Just waiting on Amanda

posted by Jack Burnt

Today's been a decent day. I took back Resistance and rented Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I didn't know it was the third updated version of the original Xbox game, so that's good. I missed it on the regular Xbox so I'm glad to catch the updated updated version. Yes, that's two updateds. However, sadly, I was kicked off of my PS3 so Amanda could watch Philadelphia (movie). What a jip is that! But because I'm the "better half" in this relationship, I let her watch it. After she's done with the movie, we'll watch Swingers (1996 film) or Meet the Parents. Amanda's choice… of course. After Philadelphia though, I"m sure she'll go with the pure comedy movie.

Aside from that, not much going on. Guess I'll play some DS.

Oopsies

posted by Jack Burnt

So, it looks like I missed the past couple days of posting. Oops! Not much going on, but a lot. Let's see. When did I last post…. Holy shit! Wednesday! Let's see what happened since then: Well, I got a PS3, as I mentioned in my last post. What I have been doing with my PS3? Playing God of War (video game) of course! That game is fantastic. I love it. I rented Resistance: Fall of Man just because I felt as if I needed an actual PS3 game for my new Playstation 3. But I only played it for about 10 minutes. The rest of my time, I've spent on God of War or Guitar Hero II since I finally got my 360 back. Well, it's not my 360 actually. But fuck it. It works and that is what matters.

So, that is where I am. Thursday nothing really happened. Friday, yesterday (or, well, the day before yesterday technically), was pretty good. Shea (my sister) came over and we had a good time. We went to Loredo's, a Mexican restaurant, then went and saw Hairspray (2007 film). I actually enjoyed it. I went in thinking I wouldn't, but it was the definition of a "feel good movie." Afterwards, Shea went to the final Harry Potter Party and Amanda went to bed. I stayed up and caught up on a couple demos on the 360 I missed out on. Apparently, the fire marshal kicked all the people out since there was so many people at Books-a-Million Friday night. But she got her book. She said she was going to read it and let me borrow it afterwards. Nice!

Today, or rather Saturday, Shea, Amanda and I went to the Big Ass Kroger and then Target. We just kind of cruised around a bit. Tried out the samples. Then Shea left for the in-laws and I cleaned up and organized our media center. Now the 360 and PS3 (and Wii, HD-DVD, and HDTV) are in their final homes. It looks really nice. I get a stiffy every time I look at it. I have to return God of War tomorrow, sadly. But I have both a Gamerpass at Blockbuster (1 rental out) and a Gamefly subscription (2 out) so I'll pick it up again. I have All Pro Football 2K8 and Shadow of the Colossus coming in the mail.

I guess that's it. I'm going to go to bed and get up and play God of War a bit more tomorrow before taking it back. Then Guitar Hero for the rest of the day.

What happened? PS3!?

posted by Jack Burnt

Yes, the world has indeed ended. I am a proud owner of a PS3! I don't have any games with it, but I did rent a couple. I rented God of War and Resistence. The first game I've ever played on my PS3 is, in fact, a PS2 game. So go figure. But it has potential to go all the way. In other news, we got approved for 100k for a house. So that's good. Now we just have to find one.

Anyway. I gotta redo all the wires behind the TV this Saturday and hook everything up proper. My 360 is coming home this Friday!

What a fucking great week for gaming!

Damn it feels to be a gangsta

posted by Jack Burnt

No particular reason I’m in a good mood. And with the reception I received, it almost went bad. But that’s ok. I have a Lady Berry on my lap and sipping on a Coors Light (the crap of beers). The reason I’m in such a blessed mood is because my 360 is finally returning to me! Well, not my 360 more likely. See, I called Saturday and blessed them out. Come Monday, 30 minutes after they open, and I have a UPS tracking number. Thank God for talking to supervisors!

Aside from that, not much going on. Plans for the evening: Super Mario World. I’m in the special world (Gnarly, Tubular, Groovy, etc) and it’s fun as hell. I all ready technically beat the game, but I haven’t gotten the perfect score yet. Then some left over Chinese food and finish up The Crow (movie). Good times.

Another lazy sunday

posted by Jack Burnt

I haven't been doing too much today. Mostly playing Evil Genius while finishing the rum. As for yesterday, it was a good Saturday. Amanda and I went to Bonner's Uniforms so she could buy some scrubs. Then we made a disappointing trip to Best Buy. I wanted to play that Star Singer or whatever game, but their PS2 died on them. So, I thought about getting a FM transmitter for my iPod in the car, but they're 50 bucks (the cheapest). So we left, with me crying. After that, we went to Kroger and it's fucking huge! I mean huge! We meandered the aisles while tasting all the free samples they lined up since it's the first Saturday open for them. It's a really nice store and I can't wait to go shopping for real.

Ha! I accidently hit the back button earlier, but Wordpress saved my draft. What badasses.

Well, I hink I'm done with Evil Genius. I think I'll play some Super Mario World now. Adios.

Almost missed it

posted by Jack Burnt

Well, I almost missed today's post. But I fooled you! I'm installing Evil Genius (game) so we'll see how that is. I'm listening to Guttermouth's The Next Faux Mohican. I really like this song. Fuck emo! Anyway, Amanda and I watched a show about Hell on 20/20. I hate those news/entertainment programs, but it was interesting. Aside from the cheesy fans, that is.

Oh yea, I'm kind of drunk. So if I make a mistake, please forgive me. Oh, that reminds me. Amanda and I also watched The Fisher King (movie). I really liked that movie. As long as you kept in mind the absurdity, it was really good. Next we're going to pick up Good Will Hunting. We've never seen it, but it's supposed to be good. I guess we're in a Robin Williams kick. You may notice all the Wikipedia links. Well, the reason is I have a plugin that automatically adds Wikipedia links if I had two [s before and after the word. So, bowling becomes a link because I added the link. Why bowling? I have no fucking clue. It was the first thing to come into my mind. The only shitty thing is I have to sometimes add (movie) or (game) to get it to point to the right thing. O well.

The sad part? I can't bowl anymore because of my back. What a fucking sad life. Boo fucking hoo.

Anyway. It's time to slap my minions… hopefully.

So far so good

posted by Jack Burnt

I received my IDE -> USB adapter and it's pure win. I hooked it up, and with some tweaking the jumpers, both my harddrives from my defunct PC are viewable on mylaptop. I'm transfering WoW as we speak. Too bad I don't have USB 2.0 on my laptop, or it'd be done by now.

In other news, I've been playing a lot of Dungeon Keeper. I love that game. It's a very old game, and the sequel took some major tweaking to get working, but it's such a blast. I may pick up Evil Genius (game) since it's in the same vein. I wish Bullfrog, the maker of Dungeon Keeper, didn't get sucked up by the EA Nazis.

Amanda and I are about to rent a movie or three and do nothing tonight. Tomorrow we're checking out the new Kroger that was built. It's fucking huge!

E3 was a bore

posted by Jack Burnt

A whole lot of nothing much.

Microsoft
Umm… I really don't remember anything from that one

Nintendo
Wii Board is cool. I may lose some weight
Mario Kart online. Finally! But no Smash Bros online
Zapper looks awesome. Glad it's cheap too.
Few good DS games

Sony
Home looks awesome.
Echo Chrome looks like M. C. Escher made it. Instabuy if I had a PS3

That's the highlights. Not much happened. Though, it was fun to watch the stuff live. I really miss my 360. I'm going to complain again tomorrow, but I doubt it does anything helpful. It was strange, because I was in the same situation at work today. Someone was wondering how long until they could see their courses in Blackboard, but I didn't know since it wasn't our problem. Ironic, don't you think?

I guess I'll play with my Wii a bit. Then I'm going to play Super Mario World.
